National Private Business Council (Conep) President Julio De La Lastra said that he hopes an agreement will be reached in the dialogue about a new minimum wage.

According to De La Lastra, he is optimistic an agreement can be reached without the "interference" of the government.

The Minimum Wage Commission will hold their last meetings this week with government representatives participating in the dialogue.

"If all goes well we can achieve a consensus that will allow us to establish the formula for a win-win situation," said Conep president.

Meanwhile, Rafael Chavarría, the labor representative, also said that he hopes an agreement will be reached.

In 2014, the minimum wage rose from $488 to $624 in urban areas and from $432 to $490 in rural areas.
